Hilton HHonors Amex Now Offers 50,000 Points with $750 Spend (Up from 40,000 Points)

Amex is now offering 50,000 Hilton HHonors points (5 nights in low level hotel; 1 night in great hotel) when you spend $750 in 3 months on the Hilton HHonors Credit Card from American Express. This is up from 40,000 points they normally offer. This is the free version of the card (no annual fee) that comes with Silver Status. You’ll also get 6 Points for every dollar spent at Hiltons and when you use the card in these categories: Grocery stores, drugstores, gas stations, home and wireless phone, cable and satellite TV, and Internet service providers.

This is not the Amex Hilton Surpass card, which comes with 60,000 bonus points after $3000 in spend plus $75 annual fee. You get Gold Status with that card. It’s your call whether the lower spend and no annual fee it more important to you than the 20,000 added bonus points. The Gold Status does get you lounge access, though, so that’s pretty nice.

If interested, apply for the card here.

QUICK UPDATE: I forgot to add that if you’re looking to build up HHonors points, the Hawaiian Airlines Visa will earn 35,000 miles that can be transferred into 70,000 HHonors points. That card has a $79 annual fee and the bonus points require $1,000 in spend in 4 months.

  1. This looks interesting. Can I apply for both cards?

  2. The terms and conditions don’t say that you can’t, so I don’t see why not. However, I have a call in to Amex for clarification and I’ll amend the post when I hear back from them.

  3. Gold does not automatically get you lounge access. It gets you breakfast and it can be enough to get you an upgrade — and if that upgrade is to an “Executive Floor” and there’s an “Executive Lounge” then you’ll get access.
