I’m finishing up my 3rd day with awful Internet access, but I wanted to pass along this photo from the Brazilian Upper Middle Class Refugee Camp (oh, sorry – you know it as United Club, Sao Paulo Airport). This is what they’re serving at the buffet:

(Sorry about the quality of the photo from my 1982 Blackberry)

I’m shocked that there isn’t a Flyertalk thread titled, “PM-UA Had Colder Meat.”

Can’t wait to get home to my normal-temperature meat.

  1. I was at that lounge a few years ago and it was an absolute disgrace. Power outlets hanging from the wall (and still being used, as they were the only ones). Dirty dishes everywhere. Empty liquor bottles. Lights hanging from the ceiling. Ceiling covered in water damage. No hot water in the bathrooms.

Glad to hear things have improved. United is the best.

  2. If Ryan is describing the airport, what is the country like? When I moved to Russia 20 years ago Sheremetyevo airport was the scariest place I’d ever seen. When I went back 9 months later it looked really kinda nice. :)

  3. I had a roommate in college who used to make “cold meat sandwiches.” It was a variety of, you guessed it, cold meats between two slices of bread with some sort of poppy seed dressing smeared on top. Nothing fancy. Just a man eating lots of cold meat.

The idea was probably birthed in that very UA lounge.
