Democracy in American Airlines Lavatories

Good news if you fly in coach on American Airlines and you had a lot of Diet Coke:  the airline has changed its rules to permit coach passengers to use first class lavatories (except on flights into the US, where security regulations prohibit it).  No more standing in line in the back while the first class lav goes unused.

There's something wrong with the facts of this story. American "the only carrier with such a [potty] rule on all flights"? Maybe it's not an "official" rule, but none of the airlines I've flown on in the past year allow coach pax to use the first class lav. They all make an announcement that the "First Class lavatory is reserved for First Class passengers."

So I'd be surprised if American is suddenly encouraging such use.

I meant to say that in the original post. Every airline I can remember has said that the first class bathroom is for first class passengers. Maybe it's the only one with an actual rule.
